Background of the Study
Digital transformation has redefined diplomatic practices through the emergence of e-diplomacy, where digital tools and platforms are leveraged to engage in international relations. In Kaduna State, e-diplomacy has facilitated enhanced communication between government entities and global audiences, enabling virtual engagements, online negotiations, and real-time policy dissemination (Okafor, 2023). The adoption of digital platforms has not only streamlined traditional diplomatic functions but also expanded the reach of public diplomacy efforts. E-diplomacy allows for timely responses to international events, increased transparency, and broader participation in global discussions. As nations increasingly rely on digital means for diplomatic communication, challenges such as cybersecurity threats, digital divide issues, and the need for updated regulatory frameworks become more pronounced (Uche, 2024). This study explores the evolution of e-diplomacy in Kaduna State, assessing its impact on diplomatic practices and evaluating its potential to transform traditional statecraft. By analyzing case studies, digital engagement metrics, and policy reforms, the research aims to provide comprehensive insights into the benefits and limitations of digital transformation in the realm of diplomacy (Eze, 2025).
Statement of the problem
Despite the transformative potential of e-diplomacy, Kaduna State faces significant challenges in its implementation. Cybersecurity risks, inadequate digital infrastructure, and limited technical expertise hinder the full adoption of digital diplomatic practices. These issues result in fragmented communication and reduced operational effectiveness, undermining the state’s ability to engage with global partners effectively. This study aims to identify these barriers and propose strategies to strengthen digital engagement and enhance the overall efficacy of e-diplomacy (Okafor, 2023; Eze, 2025).
Objectives of the Study
To evaluate the impact of digital transformation on diplomatic practices in Kaduna State.
To identify challenges associated with implementing e-diplomacy.
To recommend strategies for improving digital diplomatic engagement.
